As enterprises are discovering the advantages of hosted solutions over the premise-based setups, the adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) application model is rapidly increasing. Communications applications such as the ACD, IVR, Predictive Dialer, Voice Logger, Reporting and CRM can be hosted on a common network and the services can be delivered to the users via the public IP. As per IDC, SaaS makes up 30 percent of the software market and it will be worth $10.7 billion by 2009.
For Saas or On-demand model, the software application along with the system hardware are hosted by a service provider and made available to the client via Internet. The service provider offers customized solutions to the client as per the business requirements. The client bears only the operational costs while the infrastructure costs, maintenance costs and upgradation costs are borne by the service provider.
